Project Summary
This project, a testament to the skill and expertise of Mongolian engineers, represents the construction of the country’s first 220 kV high-voltage transmission line and substation the highest voltage level ever built in Mongolia. The total length of the transmission line is 400 km, marking a historic milestone led and executed by Mongolian professionals.
As a result of the project, several soums of Dundgovi and Umnugovi provinces, as well as Dalanzadgad city, were connected to the Central Energy System, ensuring a reliable source of electricity for the region.
By supplying the electricity demand of strategic projects such as Tavantolgoi, Oyu Tolgoi, and Tsagaan Suvarga from domestic sources, the project significantly increased revenue generation and reduced dependence on imported electricity making it a strategically important national development initiative.
Furthermore, the project introduced modern long-distance data transmission technology via fiber-optic communication along the high-voltage line and established an automated, smart substation with advanced control systems setting a new technological benchmark for Mongolia’s energy sector.
