Project Summary
As part of the Renewable Energy Expansion Project, the Uliastai 5 MW Solar Power Plant and 3.6 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) were developed in Uliastai city and Aldarkhaan soum of Zavkhan Province. This project features Mongolia’s first high-capacity battery storage system. Since commissioning, it has been supplying 8.8 million kWh of clean electricity annually to the Altai–Uliastai energy system, reducing 8,952 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.
The project provides clean energy to remote provinces not connected to the Central Energy System, supplying reliable renewable power to 48,000 residents and 8,000 households in Zavkhan Province.
