Zalaat 110/35/10 kV Substation and 110 kV OHL
Duration
2014-2015
Completed
Client
Ministry of Energy of Mongolia
Location
Ulaanbaatar city

Scope of Work

  • Complete design and installation of primary and secondary circuits, including communication and signaling systems for substations
  • Design and installation of 110 kV overhead transmission line with monopole supports
  • Construction of main substation building (control and equipment hall)
  • Construction of 10 kV and 35 kV indoor switchgear buildings

Project Summary

To meet the growing demand for electricity and to balance the load among existing substations, a 110 kV overhead transmission line with monopole towers spanning 1.52 km, along with a 110/35/10 kV substation, was designed and constructed in Zalaat, Ulaanbaatar.

As part of the project, monopole tower technology was introduced and installed in Mongolia for the first time. The key feature of this design is that it allows multiple voltage-level lines to run on a single pole, which enhances line reliability, extends service life, reduces construction time, and minimizes land usage offering numerous operational and economic advantages.
